Who We Are

For we preach not ourselves,
but Christ Jesus the Lord;
and ourselves your servants
for Jesus’ sake.

2 Corinthians 4:5

Dr. Mike Rouse is the senior pastor of Mountain View Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, where he has faithfully preached God’s Word for over 40 years.

Pastor Rouse is also active in the field of education. He founded Mountain View Baptist School in 1982 and is  currently serving as president of both the Alabama Christian Education Association and the American Association of Christian Schools

Pastor and Mrs. Rouse have been married for over 50 years. They have three daughters and eleven grandchildren, one of whom is with the Lord.

Pastor Matt Bookout serves as the associate pastor and works with the youth, music, and missions ministries. He grew up in a pastor’s home in Missouri and was saved at the age of five. When he was in the seventh grade, he went on a missions trip to Mexico. It was on that trip that he surrendered his life to the Lord. Later on, when Matt was a senior in high school, the Lord called Matt to preach.

Matt graduated from Crown College of the Bible in 2004 with a major in Youth Ministries. He met his wife, Trisha, at Crown, and they were married in 2004. God has blessed them with one daughter, Alexia Kate.

Pastor Leo Vasquez accepted Christ as his personal Savior as a young teenager in Mexico. There was not much instruction given on how to grow in Christ and as a result, he struggled with doubts of his salvation. After coming to the United States, he received assurance of his salvation and dedicated his life to live for the Lord.

When he was twenty-three, he knew the Lord was leading him to serve Him with his life. God led him to begin sharing the Gospel through door-to-door visitation. Shortly afterward, he enrolled in a Bible Institute in Georgia. After his time in college, he was actively serving the Lord when he met his wife, Marla, while he was bringing a missionary to speak at a church in Birmingham.

Now, Leo serves as the pastor of the Hispanic church at Mountain View Baptist Church with his wife and their three children right alongside him.
